The Blood Pool

The darkened hallway led steeply downward, from the lush trappings of the castle's normal chambers to a dismal and stone corridor similar to the dungeon's decor. The only guide in this shadowed hall being the strangely familiar music which continued to echo from an area nearby. Rose followed, clutching her shoulders for further warmth against the chill, damp air. Her footsteps reverberated stacatto, pausing as a large door barred her path. Beyond this was darkness, pitch and complete; yet still she moved cautiously forward as the music grew. It was close, it had to be.
The woman paused once more as a strange sound underfoot caught her attention. She stooped down, fumbling in the darkness until her fingers grazed a sharp object near her feet.
"Ouch!" She pulled her hand back quickly as a ruddy glow began to pulse from a large object looming out before her. A giant scarlet crystal suspended in mid-air. Similar crystals took up this glow, including the one at her feet, gradually lighting with a similar hue until Rose could see clearly the chamber and all that it held.
"A-Aah! No!"
The Blood Crystal Room. A chamber she had chosen to block from her memory entirely, yet it all came flooding back to her in a rush of remembrance. She stumbled back, catching her balance on a nearby stone altar. This moved slightly on the earthen floor, causing an ancient relic to wobble precariously from it's perch. A goblet of gold and crimson. The woman moved forward to grab hold of this, yet her fingers slipped and it fell; contents spilling over and staining her garments as it began it's decent to the ground and into the pool of blood below...
