Date: Summer...I think. 2014. Maybe past midnight. No way of telling from here.
I had a dream again. Yes, I still dream. The doctors say the current dosages of medication won't allow for such visions of the subconscious, but that doesn't prevent them. Not this type at the least. I was standing in the outer hallway of the ward. There was a clinking of coins and a draft of air. Another rabbit hole. Another damned rabbit hole. Why they keep appearing here, I would assume only to add insult to the injuries and humiliations suffered. Yes, it was another rabbit hole. The same, but different. This one was deeper and darker than the previous ones. No lights but I could see. No sounds but I could hear. There was a chanting coming up from below the ground. Where to go but forward? Deeper and deeper down until it was no longer a slight descent. I fell.
What sort of chambers might a normal rabbit hole have? Maybe a small den for their groups I suppose. Yet here as I fell, there was a chamber. Large, imposing and tapering off into a fathomless distance beyond the encroaching shadows. In the midst, something more. The center was raised, and there were statues. An altar. An altar in a rabbit hole? My, I really must be mad. Is that why I am in here, then? No no. I'm here for another reason. I'm here because I am sane, and it is the very act of remaining here that is turning me insane.
God, can they not see that? This place, this prison, it is not here that the insane come to stay. It is a transformation. A place where all too sane people are placed to be preyed upon. Dropped down to be forgotten by the rest of society. A pit. A hole. A rabbit hole.
...I need to find that silver dollar.
